Razer Naga Review and Essential Information

The Razer Naga is beloved by games and regular PC users alike. Learn its features and if it's the right mouse for you in this article.

With the proliferation of MMO (massive multi-player online) games, the demand for customization of keyboards and mice has exploded. Many games require a quick-fire of spells or weapon swaps to make the player effective against their opponents.

When you're playing against other human beings, the loot goes to the player with the faster fingers. Having an edge is everything in competitive gaming, and the best way to sharpen that edge is by having the full customization and comfort of a pro-level gaming mouse.

The leader of the pack in gaming mice is the Razer Naga Trinity, a full-featured, button-rich, macro-activated mouse with over sixteen million LED color variations.

What Is the Razer Naga Trinity?

The Naga Trinity is a high-end gaming mouse with swappable side panels, a deep-resolution movement sensor, and a completely customizable system of macros and shortcuts that can attach to each of the buttons.

Depending on which side-panel configuration you're using, there can be up to nineteen fully programmable buttons for all your needs. Using the Synapse 2 software that comes with the mouse, you can customize your playing experience for every game. Your mouse will function however you want it to function.

The Naga is one of the most popular gaming mice on the market, and after getting to know it for this review, we have no questions regarding why it's so beloved by gamers of all skill levels.

Product Specs

There are a lot of excellent features on the Razer Naga, a popular option in the diverse line of gaming mice on the market.

Razer has been creating new tech gadgets for a long time, and their wisdom and experience shows in the Naga Trinity.

We're not going to talk about every feature on the Razer Naga, simply because there is too much to get into one brief review, but we do want to call out some of our favorite features that gamers of all levels will love.

16,000 DPI 5G Optical Sensor

Three Interchangeable Button Panels

Enhanced Right-Handed Form Factor

The Razer Naga Trinity is one of the top five sellers from the manufacturer, so it's available at most online and brick and mortar electronics retailers for around $100.

How it Compares

We picked a few similar products available on the market to see how they compare.

  • Full Modular Customizability: 3 interchangeable side plates with 2, 7 and 12-button configurations

Ease of Use

We really love the swappable side panels. The ability to go from a two-button straight setup to the seven-button circle is fantastic. There are so many different variations you can program from the macro side that the switched panels feel like a bonus.

Though the learning curve could be sharper than other, simpler gaming mice, the tactile response and easy to use interface make it a breeze to master.

Design Quality

Razer has been adding new improvements to this series for nearly a decade now, which makes the Razer Naga Trinity feel like their swan song.

While a lot of other manufacturers put their effort into the back-end software and macro customization, Razer focuses on the hardware side first to tackle the growing needs of the pro-gaming market.

The manufacturer offers a standard limited warranty on the Razer Naga.

  • Gaming-Grade scroll wheel, a powerful Vacuum (patented design) will keep it steady at all times

The Cougar Revenger is the simplest gaming mouse on this list, with only six total buttons and limited tuning controls.

Though you can work with up to 21 macros and three different profiles (through the provided software), you have a limited number of button combos to create.

The usual ability to program key macros and shortcuts is there, but that's about it. The wheel is smooth, using a vacuum system to keep the movement silky and precise.

Ease of Use

The biggest benefit of having fewer buttons and limited adjustment capabilities is the learning curve is a lot gentler.

Because the Revenger has no swappable sides or deep adjustment to the macros, there isn't a lot for the beginning user to get bogged down on.

The software that comes with the mouse is colorful and easy to navigate; as opposed to some colder, more technical, heavy applications.

Compared to the Razer Naga this mouse has almost nothing to offer as far as features go. Everything works the way it should, and it even feels comfortable in the palm. But in the world of MMO and other advanced games, there is little benefit to using the Revenger over the other affordable options on this list.

Design Quality

The mouse is comfortable and responsive, covering all the basics required to make a great gaming mouse.

It's sturdy and has the right weight for rapid movement, a good characteristic for a basic starter mouse.

Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse with Fully...
  • 11 programmable buttons instantly perform complex macros or simple commands
  • Calibrate your optical sensor for any surface
  • Adjust the mouse's weight and center of balance

The G502 Proteus gives the other gaming mice on this list a run for their money, especially when it comes to customizing the feel and response of the hardware.

While most manufacturers give you every macro and programmable swap imaginable, Logitech adds fine adjustment control for the hardware itself.

With the surface tuning calibration, you can control the accuracy and responsiveness of the mouse based on what surface you're gliding over.

The Proteus Core, a Logitech exclusive feature, gives you fine weight and balance tuning, factors we wish every manufacturer took into consideration.

The on-the-fly tuning makes hot-swapping your movement and balance parameters quick and easy.

The G502 is available from Amazon and other major retailers for around $80.

Ease of Use

With all the amazing customization features on this mouse, it is not for the beginning gamer. The sheer number of options and fine controls can overwhelm someone just entering the custom mouse scene.

That's not to say the interface of the associated software is difficult to understand or use: it's just a lot of different things to choose from.

If we were judging by expert or professional player standards, this might get a higher rating on our 5-star scale, but for the typical gamer or MMO player, the Proteus system might offer too much mouse.

Five out of five, no question. If you have ever wanted to change the weight balance of your mouse, or even fine tune the underlying sensor for a special undersurface, then this is the mouse for you.

Logitech has put everything they can into the software, allowing you to adjust the mouse to fit your every need. The on-the-fly DPI adjustment makes it easy and quick to switch from a quick-fire aiming game to a dungeon-chaser requiring subtle hunt and pecks.

Design Quality

Have we mentioned the plethora of fine tune adjustments on this device? If so, we're going to mention it one more time, as this sets the G502 well above most other custom gaming mice on the market.

The learning curve may be as steep as it comes, but the more advanced gamers will absolutely appreciate what Logitech has built into this little machine.

Logitech provides a three-year limited warranty on this specific model of gaming mouse.

  • Lots of tuning control
  • Expansive customization
  • Balance adjustment

Corsair Gaming SCIMITAR RGB MOBA/MMO Gaming Mouse, Key Slider...
  • Exclusive Key Slider macro buttons - 8mm
  • 12 optimized mechanical buttons - designed to pro player specs
  • 12000 DPI pro proven optical sensor - pixel precise gaming

The Scimitar mouse from Corsair may look silly, but don't let the yellow hoops fool you. This MMO-inspired gaming mouse is designed with precision and comfort in mind, introducing the Key Slider control system from Corsair.

The 12-button thumb control system is adjustable along a track, giving you eight millimeters of movement along the side of the mouse. This gives some added control over the operating length, making it easy to adjust to the size and reach of your thumb.

With a 12,000 DPI Zero-Acceleration sensor, this yellow beauty can handle whatever speeds you need to play at your best. The associated software can help you program the Scimitar with everything from double macros to custom MMO timer countdowns.

Ease of Use

There aren't as many bells and whistles with this unit as there are on the other comparable gaming mice, but that doesn't have to be a negative.

What it lacks in fine adjustment capabilities, the Scimitar makes up for in response time and programmability. Save for the trackable thumb pad, there is almost no adjustment available for the hardware, but there are hundreds of different combinations available for the individual buttons.

The simplicity on the face makes it an easy adjustment for even an inexperienced gamer.

Alhough the Corsair models offer a lot of back-end capabilities through programmable buttons, that's just about where the extra features end.

The adjustable thumb buttons are a nice touch, but it's hard to say eight millimeters of movement is a fair trade for swappable side panels like on the Razer Naga.

Design Quality

There's nothing wrong with the overall design and feel of the Scimitar; there's just nothing to make it stand out from the crowd.

We mentioned the 8mm adjustment range on the thumb buttons, but that's because there isn't anything else on the mouse that makes it unique.

The real-style buttons are mechanical rather than digital, which does give this Corsair mouse a tactile response that feels good to click.

This product comes with a limited warranty from Corsair on all parts. There is no labor included as most parts are considered swappable with minimal mechanical knowledge.

There are authorized service centers for the more difficult issues, which we consider a key benefit of this warranty.

  • Adjustable thumb placement
  • Good weight and float pads
  • Excellent macro-to-button programming

  • No swappable side panels
  • No fine control adjustment

The Razer Naga Trinity: Final Verdict

Although the Logitech G502 Proteus gave the Razer Naga a real fight for first, we have to give the top billing to the Naga device.

The Logitech unit is great for the type of gamer that likes to adjust the air pressure in their tires on Gran Turismo, but we think the features are too heavy and difficult to learn for the average player.

The Naga has a rich list of features that are thoughtfully designed and meticulously implemented. It's comfortable even when you're swapping out the different configurations for the side-panels.

With a bit of practice and some experimenting with the various macro options, gamers at all skill levels can improve their accuracy and movement in all types of games with our top pick.

The 50-sheet ADF does not have to be held up manually while loading a document onto the scanner glass. Also, beneath the ADF is a catch that prevents scanned pages from sliding off the unit.

Print Quality & Speed

As a laser printer, the Brother MFCL2750DW offers the best print quality among the listed products. The text looks dark and crisp and is consistent all throughout the page, with no light or dark spots.

Even when printing out graphics, the quality is not compromised except for the fact that the graphics may turn out a little darker than expected.

When it comes to the print speed, the MFCL2750DW beats the competition with an impressive 36 pages per minute.

Design Quality

Although the design quality is on a par with the other printers in this list, the MFCL2750DW is designed to be highly user-friendly, with easy access to the toner cartridge.

With its ability to support a wide range of paper sizes and types, ranging from cards and envelopes to photo paper and transparencies, the HP Officejet Pro 8600 is the ideal workhorse for an office setting.

HP also covers the printer for up to three years from the date of purchase, instead of the inadequate single year that most manufacturers provide. The only thing that holds this printer back is ink costs, as ink-jet printers typically consume a lot with frequent use.

Based on all the above factors, the technical specifications of the printer, various customer reviews, and our comparison with three alternatives, we award the HP Officejet Pro 8600 4 stars out of the highest possible 5.

Wacom Intuos Review And Essential Information

wacom intuos

We're all used to drawing directly on a tablet or computer screen, but this drawing tablet provides an alternative surface to write on. Moving the pen over the tablet is like moving your finger on a track pad. Drawing directly on the screen may sound easier to do, but with practice this feels natural. Separating the monitor and drawing surface definitely has its advantages, the biggest being that your hand doesn't block your view of the screen. Unlike a mouse, the stylus offers pressure sensitivity. The Wacom Intuos is one of the cheapest drawing tablets that Wacom offers.

What is Wacom Intuos?

wacom intuos

Wacom Intuos is a drawing tablet from a company that is known for their professional tools. The Intuos drawing tablet is designed as an affordable, compact drawing tablet with pressure sensitivity control, which recognizes over 4,000 levels of sensitivity.

The Wacom Intuos is available in two sizes: small and medium. The small tablet has a 7-inch work space and is available with or without Bluetooth capability.  It offers a 10-inch work space.

Product Specs

wacom intuos

The Wacom Intuos has four express (shortcut) keys on the tablet and two on the stylus pen. Most of the tablet is taken up by the drawing area. The smaller tablet has 6 by 3.7 inches of work area, while the larger model has 8.5 by 5.3 inches. The Wacom Intuos offer the user 15 hours of work time and a battery-less stylus. There are four rubber pads on the bottom to prevent the tablet from sliding around on a tabletop.

Pressure Sensitivity

This feature enables the user to use the maximum brush size, or just a fraction of that selected brush, depending on the amount of pressue applied. The pressure sensitivity can also be adjusted to be within special ranges or of a certain thickness or gradient. The Wacom Intuos recognizes over 4,000 levels of pressure. For artists who do heavily detailed work, this is a major time saver.

Express Buttons

Above the drawing area there is a row of five buttons. These are slightly concave to allow the pen to rest nicely on them. The express button can be assigned keyboard shortcuts, except for the middle button. The middle button works to power the tablet and set up Bluetooth. However, the other four can not only be assigned different shortcuts, but they can also be customized to work differently for different applications.

Set Up

The Wacom Intous is compatible with Mac, Windows 7 and up, except for Windows 10S.

To a computer, a drawing tablet is nothing but a mouse with many buttons. You can use the tablet in any program by hovering the pen over the surface and tapping to click on an item.

Installing the proper drivers and software allows you to customize the buttons, view battery life, control other settings, and provides an on-screen instruction guide. The Express keys can be set to be a type of mouse click, navigation, or on-screen control. Include the buttons on the pen, the click and navigation settings allow you to use the pen just like a mouse, including the right click and scroll function.

The installation process is easy, but if it is your first time using a drawing tablet, it can take some time and experimentation to use it into your workflow.

This tablet is probably the best large tablet you can find for a very affordable price, but the software does not hold up to Wacom. It isn't as customizable as the Wacom Intous, but it does have a larger drawing surface: 10 by 6.25 inches. Also, it has 12 customizable tablet Express keys and 16 soft shortcut keys on the work surface. However, users have criticized these Express keys for not being as customizable as the Wacom, due to what the driver allows. Even though it has 12 buttons, users only use five or six buttons due to their limited settings.

Another feature this tablet seems to lack is the ability for the computer to "flip" it so it can be used by left-handed users.

Tracing Papers

Out of the box, only one cover is included, but it does offer several tracing pages. These tracing pages only have adhesive on one side, so you can slip a piece of artwork underneath and trace it into digital form. This is one feature that sets this tablet above the rest in this review. Even if you use the protective papers included with the tablet, the nibs on the end of your stylus will wear down with use.

Although, there are a few advantages to this tablet. It includes a 8GB SD Card, which is used to store artwork. This allows the artist to work from any computer, given that it has the same programs. Then pen also comes with a cap to prevent damage while traveling in a backpack. There is also a artist glove included for those who don't like their hand rubbing against the tablet surface.

  • Includes 8GB SD Card
  • Recognizes over 8,000 levels of sensitivity
  • Purchase includes carry case

  • No wireless capability; USB only
  • Complaints of Photoshop not responding to sensitivity
  • Doesn't flip orientation
  • ease of use
  • design quality
  • warranty

The Parblo Island drawing tablet is good option for amateur artists. It's cheaper than Wacom, but it doesn't include the free bundled software like Wacom does.

The work area is 8 by 5 inches, recognizes over 2,000 levels of pressure, and also has tilt sensitivity. The tilt sensitivity recognizes 60 levels and the driver software allows the user to adjust those levels their preferences.

The work space area has a good amount of texture so your pen doesn't slide around while you're working. This tablet only has four express keys and two side buttons on the stylus. However, the bottom button is locked to double click, it can't be customized.

One disadvantage about this tablet is the fact that it has a built-in cable that connects to the computer. If the cable were to get damaged, the tablet would be useless.

The pen stylus is battery-free and the buttons are flush with the surface, so it can be hard to find without looking. This also allows the pen to roll around. This tablet doesn't come with a pen holder, so it is more easily lost. Unfortunately, the cursor follows the pen on screen with no lag to allow for stabilization, and this can be an issue for some artists.

  • One of the cheapest tablets with a battery-free stylus
  • Smoother drawing surface compared to other tablets
  • Tilt sensitivity

  • Built-in cord
  • Only five replacement nibs
  • No option to delay for stabilization
  • ease of use
  • design quality
  • warranty

Parblo Island has a 12-month warranty for defects in material and workmanship, but a 5-year warranty for all LED components. For a refund, you must file a return within 30 days of purchase.

The XP-Pen Star 06 offers a USB or bBluetooth connection to a computer. Out of the box, it includes a manual, artist glove, stylus pen, pen stand with 8 extra nibs, and a 4GB USB drive with the driver software for Mac and PC.

This tablet features 6 express keys, recognizes over 8,000 levels of sensitivity, and has a 10 by 6 inch work space. Left-handed users can rejoice, this tablet recognizes being flipped so you don't have to remember upside-down express keys. Both the orientation and the levels of sensitivity can be adjusted in the driver settings. By using the scroll wheel, the artist can switch brush sizes quicker than other methods. This can also be used to zoom in and out of images.
